Top Ten Tuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten List and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

This weeks Top Ten is…..
.
top ten revolutions.
Firstly I just wanted to say a MASSIVE Happy New Year to everyone! 2013 was a really good year for me: I had some amazing experiences, spent time with some great people and I started Broc’s Bookcase. Hopefully 2014 will be just as good, if not BETTER!
.
Revolution 1 - OrganisedI try to be organised, and surprisingly have actually be called obsessively organised in the past. However when it comes to my blog I am awful! Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging, I just forget sometimes. There have been so many occasions when I have read a book, recorded my initial reaction video and wrote a review for it way in advance, but it always ends up being the night before my post goes out that I am actually making the post! Even now, I chose most of these revolutions over Christmas and put them in a list ready. It is now 12am on Tuesday 7th January and I am writing up my TTT post! I really do want to be more organised!
.
Revolution 2 - Media JobI spent 3 years working towards my media degree and since graduating in July have applied for many jobs but not actually got one yet. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not expecting the best job ever to just arrive in my lap, but I really would like to get myself into the industry. Even if it is just making cups of tea for the crew!
.
Revolution 3 - My BookAs well as being an avid reader I also really enjoy writing. Over the years I have started to write a few books/series that I have yet to finish writing. This year I will complete at least one of my books!
.
Revolution 4 - SingingI used to sing so much and now I only sing in the shower! I really don’t know what happened, but I am determined to get out there and start singing again, if only for fun.
.
Revolution 5 - BookcaseDoes anyone else think its ridiculous that my blog is called Broc’s Bookcase and yet I don’t actually own a bookcase?! Books are literally scattered around my room in dangerous piles that fall over A LOT!. I really need to get a bookcase this year, as some of my books are pretty heavy, and really hurt when they fall on me!
.
Revolution 6 - Read ClassicsAuthors like Jane Austin & Charlotte Bronte, books like 1984 and Wuthering Heights. I keep saying that I’m going to read them but still haven’t gotten round to it. I’m tempted to make it a challenge for myself and my blog. It puts more pressure on me to actually read them!
.
Revolution 7 - New thing each monthTrying to keep life exciting this year so each month I want to try something I have never tried before. Whether it’s food/drink, and activity, a place etc. It could be anything, but something that I haven’t experienced yet!! As I’m going to be in China for 3 weeks through January and February, I’m going to have TONS to chose from for these two months!
..
Revolution 8 - HealthierThis isn’t a weight loss resolution. It’s more of a ‘I really should have a more balanced diet and eat more *insert healthy food here*’. I do also want to start running again, however I may wait until this bad weather passes. Running in torrential rain is not fun!
.
Revolution 9 - 100 booksThis links in with my Goodreads yearly challenge.  I read a lot of books so went with 100. Quite interested to find out how many books I actually do read in a year.
.
Revolution 10 - Good DeedsI did quite a bit of voluntary/charity work in 2013 and really enjoyed a lot of it. Want to get even more involved this year and see what else I can do. My plan is to do as many little good deeds as possible each month, with one big one thrown in there too.
.

.What are your bookish and non bookish resolutions for the year?

Haha, you can never have too many books! We moved into this house over 10 years ago and I have never had a bookcase here! This year I am determined to sort it! 🙂

Lovely resolutions Hannah. I like how you’ve added in some personal ones too. I hope you achieve your resolutions 🙂

    • Broc's Bookcase

I had so many bookish ones, thought it would be refreshing to put some personal ones in there too. Good luck with yours too! 🙂

I like your more good deeds one, it’s something small, but it can be such a positive thing for you and whoever you’re doing the good deed for. Good luck with the job search! It took me about 6 months to get a job after I graduated from college and I think I was convinced it would never happen. But I really believe the right thing comes along at the right time!

Thanks! That’s what I’m hoping for. I’m very much a believer of ‘everything happens for a reason’, so I’m hoping I haven’t gotten a job yet because there is an amazing one just around the corner!
I love doing good deeds, especially surprise ones when you get to see the persons face. Last year for my 22nd birthday I hid anonymous notes in the front of books in my local bookstore with things like jokes, inspirational quotes or just ‘have a nice day’ type things written on them. I stayed around for a while (pretending to shop for books and actually ending up buying 4!) and saw a couple of people find them. It’s crazy how happy such a simple thing can make people 🙂

I love the idea of trying something new each month, and also trying to do more good deeds. I want to make those resolutions of mine too!

    • Broc's Bookcase

Keeps life from getting boring. Glad I could inspire you, let me know if you do anything exciting. I’ve got a couple of ideas for new things, but would love some more ideas. 🙂

Good luck in the job hunt! There is nothing more tedious than the job hunt, so I am crossing my fingers for you. Good luck on reading 100 books too! That was my goal for 2013, but I have a baby due in May this year, so I didn’t think I could pull it off again. Also, what part of England are you from? My brother lived in England for two years and if he could convince his fiance, I think he would move back.

    • Broc's Bookcase

Thanks, yeah job hunting sucks. Thankfully I have some temp work at the moment so I’m quite lucky really that I can still earn money whilst I hunt. I’m quite interested to see how many I actually read because I feel like I do read a lot, but I’ve never counted! I’m from the North West, surrounded by fields of potatoes and sheep! I wouldn’t want to move to England at the moment, some epic rain storms going on here! 🙂
