Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read

July 7, 2015 Top Ten Tuesday 10

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish. Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

I think this is the first week in a very long time that I have had less then 10 books on my list. I tend to think of ‘hype books’ as a bad thing, I’m not a fan of books that are popular just for being popular and this is my very short list of books I feel that way about.
(Sorry if you love any of them and now feel totally offended!)

One book I know I am never, ever going to read.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding this book, especially with the film having just come out, but I can honestly say I have never been interested in reading it.

Goodreads Link
I tried it, only made it like a chapter in. Then I read a spoiler to try and get myself excited about it, and even then I was like meh, still not really interested.

Goodreads Link
I know that there has been massive hype for this one recently but I don’t know, I’m just not feeling it.

Goodreads Link
Never saw the film, never read the book, never had any interest it in.

…..

Have you read any of these books? Are there any ‘hype’ books that you have never felt the urge to read?

What is on your list this week?

I think that have been a lot of people with fifty shades on their lists this week all vowing to never read it! Happy reading the others 🙂

I had no interest in either the book or the movie for Eat, Pray, Love, just not my kind of thing.
I did read the first 50 Shades of Gray…bad writing is all I need to say. Felt like I had to read it because every one I knew read it, even people who don’t usually read.
Gone Girl was fine, but not up to the hype it received.

Good to hear that I am not missing out on much then. I just recently watched the Gone Girl film, which I did like but still don’t feel the urge to read the book.

I kinda just want to know what happens in it. I’m curious about the story but not enough to read it, I may just read a spoiler review instead.

I can say I’ve read two of these. I read Fifty Shades because I needed to understand the hype. I knew it was Twilight fanfiction, but there is some pretty good fanfiction out there, so I gave it a chance, now I question why. I at least can now judge it fairly from reading it. As for Gone Girl, I gave into the hype and am glad I did because it was an experience reading, but it was such a frustrating book I’ve struggled to recommend to other. As for the others, I am never going to read them either, they just weren’t me books. SOme good picks on here.

I know what you mean about Fifty Shades, I watched the film trying to understand the hype, didn’t help. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who felt this way about the books on my list. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
