Top Ten Tuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten List and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.
I’m slightly late to the party this week, but better late then never I guess.
TTT 3-4TTT 5-6TTT 7-8TTT 1-2.
The Terminator >>> The Eden Trilogy
If you like the whole ‘machines have taken over’ then this is the book for you. A small group of humans try to survive in a world where people are attacked and get turned into cyborgs on a daily basis. In amongst this is Eve, a young woman with no memory of her life before the world fell apart. Secrets are discovered, loyalties are tested and friendship turns to romance in this trilogy that is very much The Terminator meets The Walking Dead. Massive praise for Keary Taylor on this one.
Revenge >>> Burn for Burn
Secrets, lies and revenge. This book is very much the teenage version of the TV series Revenge with three girls out to get revenge on the people who have wronged them. So much fun and plotting!
The Tribe/The 100 >>> Gone
I don’t know how many of you will remember The Tribe, it was on between 1999-2005, and I remember watching it as a kid and thinking how cool it would be to live in a world with no adults. This is exactly what Gone is all about. All the adults disappear along with the internet and phones and tv signals. They are all alone in a bubble that surrounds their town and they have to work together to survive. I’m only part way through this series but I would definately recommend it.
I also included The 100 TV Series in this (it’s also a book) because the show starts with 100 children and teens being dropped down onto an abandoned Earth and are left to find a way to work together to survive.
Supernatural >>> The Mortal Instruments Series
If you are a fan of anything supernatural: angels, demons, vampires, werewolves, faeries etc then these are for you. Yes, the two are slightly different: Supernatural is about 2 brothers killing of all the supernatural bad guys they come across, Mortal Instruments is about a race of Shadow Hunters (half human, half angel) who are basically like the supernatural police trying to keep the peace with some romances thrown in there. But in their most basic forms, they are both about people hunting supernatural bad guys, and I for one LOVE them both!
Roswell/Star Crossed >>> I am Number Four
A fan of teenage aliens trying to deal with high school? Then these are for you. Both Roswell and I am Number Four are about teenage aliens who are trying to hide in plain sight whilst dealing with all the normal teenage human troubles along with trying to keep themselves alive. Star Crossed is slightly different in that the world knows that these kids & adults are from another world, but it still doesn’t limit their troubles, both normal human problems and their own survival. If you are a fan of extra-terrestrial & human relations: friendship or romance, then these are for you.
Sons of Anarchy >>> It Ain’t Me Babe
Before watching SOA for the first time I never through I would be interested in a book about an MC and the outlaws who are a part of it. If you like SOA then this book is perfect for you. It has all the grittiness of MC life, but with the added bonus of a second storyline intertwined, about a young girl who escapes a religious cult and ends up finding shelter with the outlaws. Yes there is romance, but it in no way over powers the setting of the MC. MASSIVE love for this book.
Falling Skies >>> War of the Worlds
Another alien one for you, but this time the aliens are the bad guys. Falling Skies is about a group of human survivors trying to fight off a race of aliens that invaded their planet. There is no other choice then the original alien invasion story War of the Worlds. I haven’t quite gotten through this one myself yet, but from what I have read so far it is perfect!
Lord of the Rings >>> Eragon (Inheritance Cycle)
If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones or really any fantasy world building tv series/movie or book then you really need to add the Inheritance series to your bookshelf. Eragon is a young farm boy who finds an egg one day in the forest whilst hunting for food to feed his family. What comes next is a MASSIVE adventure that includes dragons, elves, dwarfs, magicians and turns Eragon from a poor and lowly farm boy in to a Dragon Rider and one of the last hopes to save his world from falling apart. This series blew me away and is such an incredible read it will blow you mind.
What do you think of my recommendations? Do you have any for me?

Ha, The Tribe – I remember that on Channel 5! Burn for Burn definitely reminds me of Revenge too. Such a great series.

I never really watched The Tribe, I can remember thinking how cool it looked when I caught the end of an episode, but I LOVE The 100 (it made my list). I never even thought about Gone though. I really liked the book but haven’t read any of the rest of the series.
You should read The 100 if you like the show. You get to learn more about the ship than is shown on the TV (though I guess this isn’t a Game of Thrones quality adaption, there are a hell of a lot of changes). Not to sound like a walking advert but its only a fiver on Amazon.
    Great list!

Haha, it’s on my TBR. I really do want to read it but just haven’t gotten round to it yet.
The Tribe was an awesome show. Sad it ever ended.

Oh my GOD. I remember the Tribe! It made me love the name Amber. You see, I grew up in Germany so I had never heard it before! I started calling all my barbies that! *I so have to re-watch the series*

Also, I just started watching The 100, too. Oh, how I am looking forward to reading Gone now.

Along with The 100, I started watching Star Crossed, too, because what the heck, why not give it my all. But I have watched a movie called I Am Number 4, which I suppose? was based on the book, but it didn’t really get me excited. So I think, I probably won’t be reading that one.

And Revenge? Ahh, don’t get me started. Though, I do think it’s not going to work out for Emily. At least I will be disappointed if it does. Burn for Burn really does seem interesting, though.

Haha, I know what you mean. I have been trying to find it so I can watch it again. Gone is great, I’m only a couple of books in but really enjoying it 🙂
Yeah I have been watching Star Crossed too, sadly it doesn’t live up to the awesomeness that was Roswell, but its fun so why not.
The movie for I am Number Four is no where near as good as the books. Pittacus Lore is gooood! Should definately give them a chance.
I am so excited for the end of revenge when everyone finds out who she is. I think shes going to do it, but theres going to be a lot of people lost along the way. Also not so excited for the ending of Revenge because I love it so much I don’t want it to end. 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!

I’m not too excited about the end either. I will be mad though if Emily manages to walk away unharmed. Sure, I’m all for her redeeming her father and stuff. But she has killed and done harm in the process herself. She is no better than the family she married into. Whilst I do want to see her succeed, I also want her to pay for her actions. Is that weird?

        • Broc's Bookcase

Hmmm, I don’t know. I kinda just want her to beat them all. Yeah she has done some bad stuff, but if it weren’t for the Greyson’s in the first place then she wouldn’t have to become this person and do all these things. I think her watching the people she cares about suffer is enough of a punishment for her actions. Plus the whole consequences of her wedding to Daniel (don’t want to put spoilers up), they were pretty devastating. For me personally, she has suffered enough. Everyone else deserves what they get.
But then again these are fictional characters so no need to stress over it. Haha

It’s a really good book series and has got all those little bits in it that they never include in the film but totally make the book what it is 🙂 So sad about Star-Crossed, I was really excited to see what the baby was going to look like. I wish they would have given it more of a chance then just 13 episodes. Oh well, as long as Arrow is still going I’m happy! 🙂

      • The Lovely Pages Reviews

OMG don’t remind me, I was looking forward to that part, they never include babies in paranormal series (apart from the Originals, maybe there’s a new trend coming LOL), and this one didn’t even have a love triangle, it was so unique it’s unfair! Just watched the season finale of Arrow, amazing! Thanks for the rec 🙂
