Top Ten Tuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

So I get scared, a lot. I’m scared of the dark, I’m scared of creepy noises, I can’t watch scary movies, I can’t read scary books. I’m like a 5 year old girl, in a 23 year olds body! It’s kind of embarrassing!

But, I have been trying recently to be a bit more brave and to get involved in horror a bit more. I totally watched a scary film the other day (yes it was in the middle of the day and I made my dad sit next to me, but I got through it!) and I am determined to read at least one scary book this Halloween!

So my list this week is all the scary books that people keep recommending to me, that I really do want to read, but I’m just WAY too scared!

Carrie  The Shining  It

Carrie . The Shining . It

Notably the best horror writer of our time I would really love to be able to read Stephen King’s books. I feel like if I’m going to start reading horror then I should just throw myself in at the deep end and pick up one of his. Problem is, they all look so scary I don’t know which one I would pick!

Say Her Name  I Am Legend  The Woman in Black

Say Her Name – It’s based on Bloody Mary, who totally freaks me out. I wont even think her name when I’m stood anywhere near a mirror, let alone say it out loud! This book would result in me looking a total mess for like a year due to the fact that I wouldn’t be able to go near mirrors!

I am Legend – I just about made it through the film, and that was only because of Will Smith, but wow was I scared. The cover for this book says it all really. Not sparkly vampires here, they are at their scariest, and I am already petrified before even opening it!

The Woman in Black – I couldn’t even watch the trailer for the film adaptation of this one, so I know that this book would be a tough one for me! It does have incredible reviews though, and if I was brave enough it would definitely be one of the first I would read.

On a less scary note …

warm bodies

Warm Bodies – It’s not scary, but it features Zombies and I would really love to read this book this year! I have seen some fantastic reviews for both the book and the film and so I really want to get my hands on it!!!

Have you read any of these books?

What would you recommend to me as a first time horror reader?

What’s on your list this week?

Warm Bodies is definitely an okay read. I can’t stand horror (too easily scared) but I could definitely manage Warm Bodies. Bloody Mary terrifies me, but I managed to get through Say Her Name. It is scary though and I’m still dodgy around mirrors and I read it months ago!
