July 8, 2014 Top Ten Tuesday 26

Top Ten Tuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

This week it’s all about our bookish/blogging confessions and wow do I have a lot, but I managed to get it down to just ten, so as not to bore you with all the bad stuff I do!

1. I am seriously un organised.
Most of the time my blog posts don’t get written until the night before/morning off. I keep trying to be better but it never quite works.

2. I get really over excited by free review books
I have gotten a lot better more recently, but normal I just keep saying yes to them. Then I end up with a mega pile of books that I don’t really want to read and no time to read the books I want to read!

3. I am AWFUL with my library membership!
I think I spend more money paying the fines then I would actually buying the books!

4. I occasionally suffer from the green eyed monster
When I see another blogger reading an ARC that I REALLY want! Or getting to take part in an event with an author I wish I could take part in. Or Β even the fact that the release dates in the US are so much earlier then the UK and I always end up having to wait.

5. I have too many books!
I keep buying books and not reading them. I have such a massive pile! Also, I keep adding books to my TBR on goodreads and then never reading any of them!

6. Lack of Confidence
Im always comparing my reviews/blog posts to other bloggers and thinking that they aren’t very good.

7. Being social
I am always worried about keeping up with social media. I’m always worried that if I’m not tweet or putting up facebook status’ that people are going to forget about me!

8. My blog emails are out of control!
I’m surprised I don’t forget more things and let more people down because they really are such a mess!

9. Keeping up with the comments
I am really bad at reply to comments/commenting on others blogs.

10. Over protective of my favourite books
I get really passionate about the books that I like and don’t know how to cope when people say they don’t like them. This always ends in a debate and me basically begging people to like the books I like! Oh dear, I sound a bit crazy!

What are your reading/blogging confessions?

glad to know I’m not the only one with the lack of book blogging confidence! I guess we are all in the same boat in that perspective πŸ™‚

I’ve started getting one or two author requests for books too and it just makes me say yes immediately!- oops!

    • Broc's Bookcase

Haha yes, the excitement of being asked makes you want to say yes to all of them! I would definitely recommend looking into the book to make sure its something that you are definitely going to be interested in reading. I’ve read so many bad books because I said yes before checking them out properly! πŸ™

    • Broc's Bookcase

Thanks very much, I kind of hate it haha. I’m always seeing things on other bloggers and thinking “I wish I had thought of that!” Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Tracy (@Cornerfolds)

I can totally identify with several of these! I’ve only been at this for a few months, but I’ve already figured out that I need to say “no” to some of the review requests I’ve gotten (and that I need to make time to read what I -want- to read in between). I do the same thing with comparing my posts. I also wonder sometimes if it’s worth it since I don’t have many regular readers, but I keep assuring myself it’ll come with time.

    Here are my Confessions!

If you enjoy it then keep at it. Sometimes I can do (what I think is) a great post, but then only have like 5 people see it, and I think why am I even doing this? Then I remember how much I enjoyed writing the post and for me thats enough (took me a while to learn this though!). If your looking for more readers then I’d advise getting yourself out there. The more you get involved in other peoples blogs, the more they will get involved in yours. Good luck! And thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

I relate to so many of these. Having a huge TBR seems inevitable for book bloggers. Also I relate to feeling protective over favorite books. Someone hating a favorite book of mine is something I can’t help but take personally, even if it’s irrational.

    • Broc's Bookcase

Haha no I know exactly what you mean. I get so angry with people, I’m literally begging them to like it! Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  4. Lauren

I am in the same boat with overprotecting my favorite books. I recommended a book to one of my co-workers about a month ago and she asked to borrow mine and I actually went out and bought her a copy, because I was so hesitant about giving mine up.

    • Broc's Bookcase

I lent my favourite book to my auntie, and my uncle put it in the bin with a load more of her books (she has like 2 rooms full of books, he is always trying to get rid of them!) and I was GUTTED. I had to go out an buy myself a new one immediately. And my uncle had to suffer my wrath!

  5. moonglint

I think we’re all a little protective of certain books. I may or may not have elected not to follow a blog because they didn’t appreciate the awesomeness of a certain favorite book of mine.

  6. Cait

I’m with you on #10! And I’m also hopeless when it comes to replying to emails. My bad! But I do keep on top of my blog comments…sort of. Because I love blogging too much. I will never stop being excited about new books!!
    My TTT!

    • Broc's Bookcase

I am trying very hard to get better at being organised. Hopefully it will stick this time! Haha ditto, getting a new book never fails to bring a massive geeky smile to my face!

  7. Raised A Reader

Number 3 = Yessssss. I’m too scared to show my face in the library for the next month, because I was so late turning in a couple of my books that all I feel is shame now…

    • Broc's Bookcase

I got my mum to take mine in, another time I just posted it through the door whilst it was closed and then just avoided going to the library for a while so I wouldn’t have to go pay my humongous fine! You find any other ways to avoid the shame let me know! I have a feeling I will have another overdue library book at some point in the near future!

  8. lynnsbooks

I’m also unorganised with books, reviews, blogging, life in general – I suppose there’s a pattern there! I’m fairly relaxed about it though – that’s who I am.
I do suffer from insecurities – I never think my posts will be quite what I wanted them to be or what other people will enjoy and if I’m asked to take part in something I always think my contribution will be wrong!
    Lynn πŸ˜€

    • Broc's Bookcase

I think everyone gets insecure at times, I just always try to remind myself why I am doing it, and as long as I am still enjoying it then who cares what other people think. Organisation was a big one for this weeks top ten. I guess we are all as bad as each other!

  9. anotherafterthought

I’ve fallen into the trap of free review books as well. Well, actually, I’m still in that pitiful hole I dug myself into but I’m sure we’ll all get out of it one day (here’s to hoping at least). I’m pretty conscious about the quality of the content I put forth as well…but at the end of the day, I think if I put my own voice into it…then that’s all I can really ask for!

    Cheers,
    joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts

    • Broc's Bookcase

Haha, good luck with digging yourself out of your review books hole. I’ve promised myself that I’m not going to accept anymore this summer unless they are one that I have been waiting for for ages!

  10. Claire (BWB)

I feel you on the social part.. and the lack of confidence part. I really suffer from those as well. But I will say this, you’re doing an amazing job so keep it up!

    • Broc's Bookcase

I think everyone feels the lack of confidence at some point. But thank you very much, it’s always nice to get positive feedback πŸ™‚
