Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten (well 15) 2014 Releases I Never Got Round to Reading

January 13, 2015 Top Ten Tuesday 17

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

This list was never going to just stop at ten! I think the combination of a really bad reading slump coupled with the fact that I’ve been really struggling for money this year and so don’t have a lot to spend on books has really set me back with the books I really wanted to read in 2014. (Don’t worry, I stop at 15!)

TTT1-3

TTT7-9

TTT4-6

TT10-12

TTT13-15

The Headhunters Race (Kimberley Afe) – It feels a bit like Hunger Games, but I liked Hunger Games, so this can only be a good thing right?

Bird Box (Josh Malerman) End of the world type book, I should really read this one!

Lobsters (Tom Ellen, Lucy Ivison) – Cute summertime love story, from friends to more, remind me why I haven’t read this yet?!

Open Road Summer (Emery Lord) – I think this one was released around the time of my reading slump so books really weren’t the first thing on my mind. Since then I have been trying to catch up and just haven’t got round to this one yet.

After the End (Amy Plum) – I actually started to read this one, like the first three pages, and then I got distracted by something else ad I’ve never made my way back to it.

The Vanishing Season (Jodi Lynn Anderson) – It’s always the gorgeous cover that pulls me towards this book. Another one I need to read this year!

Half Bad (Sally Green) – I don’t know why I haven’t read this one yet. Every time I read the description I ask myself that exact same question!

Alienated (Melissa Landers) – I was so excited about this one for months before it was released, I don’t know why I never got round to read it?!

Cruel Beauty (Rosamund Hodge) – I think this is one of those books that every time I am going to buy it to read it, something else comes up that I need to spend the money on. Overtime I just forgot about it, I don’t know how, because it sounds amazing.

Like No Other (Una LaMarche) – I love the unique storyline that comes with this one. It’s always perked my interest, but I just keep forgetting about it.

Let’s Get Lost (Adi Alsaid) – I love road trip stories. Maybe subconsciously I keep putting this book off because I’m waiting for my own road trip before I read it?!

Can’t Look Away (Donna Cooner) – This book is so cool with it’s whole internet video angle, I can’t wait until I finally get my hands on it!

I’ll Give You the Sun (Jandy Nelson) – The reason I haven’t read this book yet is a complete mystery even to me! I really need to get up to date with this reading lark!

Breaking the Rules (Katie McGarry) – I LOVE Katie McGarry and I LOVE the Pushing the Limits series, so why have I not read this book yet?!

Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless (Liz Czukes) – This one just looks like fun, I feel like I would spend the majority of it with a big smile on my face. Maybe without knowing it, I’m saving it for a day that needs more smiles?

…..

What do you think of my (many!) choices?

What’s on your list this week?

I tried reading The Bird Box, but it was too slow for me. Maybe you’ll enjoy it though! Cruel Beauty is super amazing though! You should definitely move it to the top of your list! Great list 🙂

    Here are my Top Ten!

    • Brocs Bookcase

I’ve moved it further up, so should defiantly be read in the next month. I may try and get Bird Box from my library, so if I don’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped, then I’ve not had to pay for it!

The only one I’ve read from your list is Open Road Summer and I highly recommend it! I love road trips 😀 I’ll Give You the Sun, Cruel Beauty, Alienated are just a few I want to read too 😀

    • Brocs Bookcase

Glad to know I’m not the only person in the world who hasn’t read these ones yet! Haha. I keep hearing AMAZING things about Open Road Summer. Need to get on it!!! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  3. Chrissi Reads

I absolutely loved Open Road Summer. I thought it was a beautiful contemporary read! I’m hoping to read I’ll Give You The Sun, Can’t Look Away and Cruel Beauty soon. I hope you enjoy these books when you get to them!

From what I’ve heard from everyone else I think I am going to LOVE them when I FINALLY get round to them. This week made me realize how rubbish I was with my reading last year! Must improve in 2015! 🙂

  4. Trish

I keep hearing so much about Bird Box…but also that it’s a bit scary! Most of these others I’m not familiar with. I must live under a rock. 😉

    • Brocs Bookcase

Haha, I know exactly how you feel. I always feel so late to the party when it comes to books. I’m only reading books now that people have been talking about for years! At least with a scary book you can hide it under the bed until you are feeling brave again! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

    • Brocs Bookcase

Being limited to ten this week was HARD (as you can tell because my list is fifteen!) but like you I could have added TONS more! Hope you get round to reading them soon! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • Brocs Bookcase

I have heard such amazing things about it, I need to get my hands on it this year! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  5. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Lots of good-looking books there! Alienated and Cruel Beauty are on my “someday” list, and my sister loved I’ll Give You the Sun, so I’ll probably read that one at some point. I hope you get a chance to read them ALL this year.

    • Brocs Bookcase

Haha, I like the sound of a ‘someday’ list. It sounds nicer then an TBR!! Thanks, I hope that you get to read everything on your list this year too!

  6. Tabitha (Not Yet Read)

I loved Cruel Beauty definitely don’t miss out on it. I also really enjoyed Let’s Get Lost..I think because I took a road trip Adobe across country when I was 18 but my trip was nothing like hers lol.

I’ve decided in going to get Half Bad, at first I wasn’t going to now I’m going to try to find a deal 🙂
