Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I’ll Probably Never Read

May 5, 2015 Top Ten Tuesday 16

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

So this week I split into lists, because there are a lot of books I probably wont read but for very different reasons. Some I just know I will hate, when others I just never seem to have the time for. So here’s my list….

(click on the book covers to be taken to their Goodreads page)

Because I Just Don’t Want To…

I am not a fan of erotica AT ALL, plus I’m really not a fan of “hype” books. From what I have heard about this book, the writings not the best, so it just seems to be the fact that it’s all about the sex that has people reading it, and that just does not interest me.

Because I’m not Smart Enough…

I’ve actually started both of these books at some point, but both times I never got any further then the first chapter! They are both just very intense and have very big words that my little brain has difficulty taking in!

Because I Watched The Film and The Book Is Just Going To Be WAY Too Sad

I normally hate watching the film before reading the book, but I was persuaded by one of my friends years ago. I ended up SO MAD by the end of both f these films by the endings, that I swore I would never watch them again, so I really doubt I am ever going to put myself through the books too!

Because I’ve Been Saying I Will For YEARS and I Still Haven’t…

I have had them all of these five on my TBR list forever, and people are always telling me that I need to read them, but I just never have! I keep saying that I’ll get round to them, but I think I know that I probably never will and it’s just wishful thinking!

…..

What do you think of my choices? Have you read any of these?

What’s on your list this week?

Great list! I’ve read George Orwells Animal farm and I loved it although I’ve had 1984 on my TBR for such a long time I haven’t picked it up yet. Lol at Fifty shades , the book is a must on this weeks TTT I guess. I read Da Vinci code in high school the little I could understand and process I absolutely enjoyed , will read it again in the future ( I beleive am smarter now ) , I was never interested in the girl with the dragon tattoo so it’s on my list also. Now because I love sad books I’m going to check those two out.
Have a nice day and check out my TTT :

Fifty Shades of Grey was on my list this week too, I think it’s going to be a popular choice this week! I have read To Kill A Mockingbird & Lord of The Flies, TKAM was okay, it’s not the best book I’ve ever read (in terms of enjoyment anyway) but if I hadn’t had to read it for school I don’t think I would have read it. Lord of The Flies I also read for school, and personally I would advise to steer clear of it, it’s really boring! (Although you might like it, that’s just my personal opinion).

I’ve have mixed experiences with your book choices. 50 Shades of Never Ever Reading This as I HATE erotic literature! I found the girl with the dragon tattoo confusing and dull and abandoned it quickly. I HATE Wuthering Heights!!! I find nothing romantic about domestic violence! I was forced to read To Kill a Mockingbird and Animal Farm at school and didn’t greatly enjoy either of them. Mocking Bird was well written but I didn’t enjoy the racism plot. Never let me go was a decent read but I preferred the film. I did really enjoy The Da Vinci Code but Angels and Demons was too complex for me! Really fascinating list!

Thanks for your comment 🙂 It makes me feel slightly better at my choices by the fact that you didn’t say ‘Oh I have read these and they are all amazing.’ Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I’ve got several of these on my list. As someone who has read Wuthering Heights, I say you’re not missing anything. Hope you’ll stop by.

    Have a great week!

Haha, thanks. That makes me feel better about probably never reading W.Heights! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  5. Rosy @ The Review Diaries

50 Shades is on a lot of lists this week! Completely agree and recommend not bothering with Wuthering Heights, Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm. They may be classics, but they’re not that great.

Yeah, I’ve seen it on quite a few 🙂 I feel a bit less bad about not reading them now! Thanks for stopping by, happy reading! 🙂

A lot of people seem to have only read the classics because they were required. I’m glad I was never forced to read them in school! Maybe, if my brain gets any brainier I will give them another go! Thanks for stopping by, happy reading 🙂

Ha ha, I probably have half of these on my TBR. I’ve heard the writing is awful, but I would try reading 50 Shades just to satisfy my curiosity about the hype.

  7. Chrissi Reads

Fifty Shades is so popular this week and I can totally see why. I often think that I’m not clever enough for some books. Classics are a huge part of that.

  8. Tiffany (Abouttoread)

I read 50 shades since its Twilight Fan Fic and when I was at BEA last year everyone was talking about how awful it was and I felt left out since I couldn’t talk about it. You’re not missing out.

  9. Brooke @ Brooke Reviews

So I’m totally guilty of this, too – saying I’m “definitely going to read [insert book here]” and then don’t. Oops! But I think a lot of us have trouble tackling the classics. They may be “classic,” but sometimes they’re just too slow for me and I’m just not willing to make the time commitment. Maybe someday??

  10. Lisa @ Bookshelf Fantasies

I loved Atonement and Never Let Me Go — but you’re right, they’re really such sad books! I never liked Wuthering Heights — but I did just re-read To Kill a Mockingbird, and loved it!

  11. Lindy@ A Bookish Escape

Great List! I haven’t read any of the books on your list except for To Kill a Mockingbird, which was part of my high school required reading. I want to read Wuthering Heights and 1984 as well, but probably won’t. There are just too many other books that I want to read more, and don’t have the time for…
