Too Much Information…?

November 8, 2013 Discussion 4

A family member pointed out to me recently that I share a lot of information on my blog, and she was concerned that I was sharing too much information. But how do we know what too much is?.
.
I am careful with my personal details and try very hard not to share more then I should. You guys know my name, you know I’m from the UK, and you know my age and birthday (only because I went on about it so much!) I feel like that this information isn’t too bad. It’s not like anyone is going to be able to find me just from that information. There must be a big number of 22 year old Hannah’s in the UK (if there are any Hannah/22/UK reading right now then HI!!!!!)
.
But then there’s the little things that you don’t really think of. For example, telling everyone you went to a Gig for a certain singer on a specific date. It’s extremely easy to find out where that singer was on that date, and therefore find out an exact area where someone lives.
It’s kind of crazy, the simplest things that you would never think of are actually some of the more revealing.
.
Blogging is meant to be fun, but I constantly find myself stressing over my posts and how much is too much information to give to the world? You hear all these horror stories about people giving away too much info online and having to deal with the consequences of that. I want to be able to share my life with the people who read my blog without putting myself in danger of bad stuff happening, but sometimes its difficult to know what information is the wrong information to be putting online?
.
I guess for the time being I’m going to stick with what I’m doing.
I feel happy with what I’m sharing, and I love being able to come on here and talk about my day/week/month just as I would talk to a friend face to face.
.
So what do you think? Do you have the same issues? What is too much information?

I’ve never really thought about it, I suppose as long as you tell people after the gig you’ll be fine, I suppose you can travel for gig as well, I went to one a few weeks ago and I had to travel a couple of hours to get to it. I am going to get paranoid on what I am sharing now 🙁
