Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.
Ok, so technically it’s Wednesday but shhhhhhh!
I was super lucky that as part of the Easter weekend work gave me Tuesday off as well, but it mean that my internal calendar got a bit confused over the past 5 days and I totally forgot about TTT!
This weeks topic is all about the things that are guaranteed to make us want to read a book. I put my list together quite quickly and then read back over it and realised how varied it is!
Any book which brings two broken people together and heals them with a beautiful romance is a winner in my mind, so if a book even hints at this then I’m going to read it!
Second Chance Romance
Just like with a good healing romance if a book looks like it’s going to be about bringing a couple back together for the second time then I am definitely going to want to read it.
I’ve read so many books that feature teenage pregnancy, but they always end right when the baby is born. I want to read the story after the baby is born and all the struggles and dirty nappies that come with it! If a book looks like it’s going to have this then I will be grabbing it as soon as humanly possible!
Demi-Gods/Greek God related stuff
I absolutely LOVE anything about the greek gods or demi gods and have gobbled up so many books about them. If it features these then I am definiltey going to want to read it!
Normal world but with powers
Don;t get me wrong, I love a good fantasy. But I also really like reading about people living int he real world but with powers (and not the type that require wands). Flying, invisibility, elemental powers etc. The list goes on and no doubt I will grab a copy of any book which features characters like this.
There is nothing I love more than a big macho guy who is also massively vulnerable. (Tillie Cole is amazing at writing characters like this!) They make me swoon a ridiculous amount and any hint of a vulnerable macho man and I will be on that book in a flash!
Speaking of vulnerable macho men, I also really like reading books about injured soldiers returned from war trying to heal their mental/physical scars. I’ve not seen many around recently, but first sight of one and I will be grabbing it!
