Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.
Last week (IRL) was massively busy, which meant that blog life last week was pretty quiet. I still don’t feel like I’ve properly caught up with everything since I got back from my holiday 3 weeks ago, but we have a nice long bank holiday weekend coming up in the UK so I have big plans to get on top of stuff and also hopefully do some reading! (I am sooooo behind with my reading!)
Book Sniffing – I don’t know about you but I love sniffing my books! In the same way that people think listening to music whilst reading enhances the experience I feel the same about the way my book smells! I am still convinced that Hogwarts smells how my HP books smell!
Discovering a New Favourite Author – I love when I read a new book and absolutely fall in love with it, and then decided to read all that authors their books and love them all too.
Bookish Clothing – I’m a bit obsessed when it comes to bookish clothing and I have ended up with quite a lot (mostly HP!). My favourite time to wear bookish clothing is when I’m at work. I love how I look all professional, but I have a sneaky pair of Dobby socks on or I’m wearing my Quidditch tank top under my shirt. Hehe, always makes me a happy bookworm!
Fangirling with Fellow Bookworms – I love fangirling with new bookish friends. I got to meet up with some really cool people at YALC last year and we totally fangirled over the authors that were there that day. Bookworms are the best types of people!
Book Quotes – Anything I see that features a quote from a book on it, I immediately want it. Mugs, t-shirts, necklaces, posters, bookmarks, pillows literally ANYTHING! I love book quotes, and so seeing them on things in shops and the bookish love being shared to the world is the greatest!
Unappreciated books – I love it when I find an amazing new book that no one else I know has read. I will literally recommend it to EVERYONE and make them all read it, and then they will tell other people and so on and so on. You feel like you are helping TONS of new people discover this book.
Days with no Plans – My life can be pretty busy. I work Mon-Fri and I’m often helping my parents with housework, gardening, grocery shopping etc at the weekend, as well as visiting family members. Plus I’m blogging, doing a proofreading course and hanging out with my boyfriend and/or friends. I hardly ever get an entire day when I am completely free, so when these days come around and I know I can just sit and read an ENTIRE book (or more!) uninterrupted, it makes my bookworm heart very happy.
Matching Sets – So many authors are swapping there cover designs half way through the series nowadays, and as someone who likes all their covers to match it is mighty frustrating. So owning an entire series that matches is one of my favourite things.
Recommendations – I’ve always been a little nervous about recommending books to people. What if they don’t like it, and then what if they think I’m weird because I like it? Giving someone a book suggestion and then have them come back and tell me that they loved the book makes me so HAPPY! (and relived that the person doesn’t think I’m weird)
Bookworm Social Etiquette – It’s taken a while to teach, and doesn’t always work, but every so often I experience that special moment when someone walks into the room that I am reading in to talk to me or ask me to do something and instead of interrupting me they just wait for me to finish my page/chapter. It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does it’s BLISS.
Tidy Bookcase – I recently got a GIANT bookcase for my birthday and spent hours arranging all my books and swag on it. It gets a bit messy sometimes and so every so often I have a tidy and rearrange things and it probably sounds really geeky but I LOVE it! Walking into my room and seeing it there looking so pretty makes me super happy!
