Ten Character Names I LOVE and Would Totally Use to Name My Future Kids

January 26, 2016 Top Ten Tuesday 19

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

It’s freebie week! I was totally stumped on what to do this week, and then I came across a buzzfeed article about literary baby names of which I had only read like 5 of the books! So I decided it would be the perfect topic for my list this week!

I decided to just use books that I read in 2015, as if I did all books then I would never have been able to keep it under ten (I still didn’t manage to do this anyway!)

**Just to confirm: no I am not pregnant, no I am not planning on having children any time soon. I just really like names!**

The Young Elites
I had never heard this name before reading TYE and I have to admit that every time I say it I think it comes out more Italian sounding than the time before! But it’s so pretty and unique.

Ugly Love
I don’t know what it is exactly about this name but I just love it. I feel like it would be a great name for a guy at any age (plus the Miles in Ugly Love is really hot!)

Under the Never Sky
I really like the way this name just sounds. So so pretty and again totally unique.

Sweet Soul
Ok, so this may sound a little mean (and apologies to any Elsie’s in advance) but up until recently I always though of Elsie as an old lady name. But then I read Sweet Soul and I fell in love with the character and therefore the name too!

Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist
I really love how unique this one is, I don’t know of ANY Skylar’s in the world (except for those in books) I like that it’s a different kind of name but not a totally crazy one.

An Ember in the Ashes
I spent the first half of this book calling the character Ellis, which is a name I love. And then I was corrected and immediately thought, ‘Elias is no where near as good a name as Ellis’. But then I read the second half of the book and I was totally in love with the name by the end o it!

Never Never
Another one which I always saw as more of an old person name (I blame Silas Marner for this!) but then after reading this amazing trilogy I totally changed my mind and now I really like this name.

Sweet Soul
I really like this as a guys name. Usually I’m not into names that are inspired by places, brands or things, but I really like the name Levi.

The Addicted Series
Ok, so I think that my love for the character made me love this name, but it really is a good name! Plus, I love that it can be shortened to ‘Lo’

November 9
LOVE this name. It’s so so unique but again not a stupid sounding name at all. There is just something really pretty about it. Also, is it weird that it makes me think of a bird?

An Ember in the Ashes
My cousins little girl is called Laia and it is such a pretty name. True, it makes me think of Star Wars every time I read it, but you can’t deny it’s pretty.

TheΒ Winners Trilogy
I’ve just realised that I have quite a few ‘A’ names on my list today, but this is the first one for a guy. I like the simplicity of this one. It’s not complicated or hard to say. It’s straightforward, but also totally unique in its own way.

Which books did you chose this week? Did you manage to stick to ten or completely fail like me?

What do you think of my choices?Β Are you hoping to read any of these too?

It’s weird because before I read Never Never, Silas would have never made my list. But now I love it πŸ™‚

I love your choices! There are some super cool names in books. Sometimes, there are some super weird names too! I could probably make a list of the 10 names in books that I thought were too weird! Great list!

    • Brocs Bookcase

I know, there really are! I had quite a few standby names as well which nearly made my list too! That would be a great TTT topic! Who would make your weird names list?

  2. Joan @ Fiddler Blue

I love these names! Definitely keeping Adelina, Laia, Levi, and Skylar for future reference. πŸ™‚ Great topic choice, I always find freebie week a tough one but there everyone seem to came up with unique post ideas!

    • Brocs Bookcase

I know, me too! I’ve taken part in quite a few freebie weeks now so I am running out of ideas! I love the name Laia, so simple but pretty. Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

  3. Elizabeth @ Book YAbber

These names are amazing! My favorites are Elsie and Skylar. Being a writer, I use the name Skylar A LOT! I love it and my husband has absolutely vetoed it for future baby names, so it’s a common character name for me. This was such a great idea for TTT! Happy Tuesday!

Awww, well at least you get to name your characters Skylar if not your children! I really like Elsie too, so pretty. Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

  4. Charnell @ Reviews from a Bookworm

YAY! Great choice of topic this week. I always love freebie week as people always do such amazing topics! I love so many of these names myself and would happily name my kids after them too – Adelina, Miles, Fallon and Arin are four of my favourites. My top baby name is based on a fictional character.

Here’s my TTT post if you want to check it out. I picked non-book romances I would love to see get book adaptations.

  5. Carey

I don’t know how you remember the names of the characters you read. I usually have to double check the names when I write my reviews. LOL! I love several of the names you chose. I also found it interesting that you had more of a negative opinion of the name before reading it in a book and then changing your opinion after reading the book. I wonder if the same would be true for myself. Happy Reading!

    My Top Ten

I know, I’ve always said that I would want my kid to be names something a little different. Nothing crazy like North or Peaches, but just different πŸ™‚

  6. Laura Michelle

I absolutely love each and everyone of those names and your choice of topic for this weeks Top Ten… I chose to list my Top Ten book to movie adaptation coming out this year that I am looking forward to and failed! I only managed to list 7.

    • Brocs Bookcase

Well that’s not your fault, maybe there are only 7 good movie adaptations being released this year! πŸ™‚
Thanks, I really enjoyed this topic. I am constantly find names I love for potential future babies!
      Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

  7. Lauren @ Always Me

I listened to The Young Elites on audio and hearing the names pronounced was pretty fantastic. I read The Rose Society and I couldn’t help but hear the audiobook narrator. πŸ™‚

    Check out my TTT.

  8. Becky @ A Fool's Ingenuity

I love this post, I remember the baby names post and I love bookish names. I love names. I blame my small obsession for The Sims from the age 11 where I scouted out all my favourite names for my little Sim people (I had actual lists) so I love posts like this. I always think Colleen Hoover comes up with the best names for her books, they’re always a bit different.

I need to read November 9 (it’s in my TBR pile) and you always mention Tillie Cole and I always feel bad I’ve still not bought any of her books! I really want to, but I keep feeling guilty about my TBR pile. I think I may make one of her books my next buy once I’ve read another 5. Which of her books should I try first, is it a case of diving head first into any one of her series (she does do a lot of series, I’ve noticed)?
