Bookopoly – Chance Challenge #3

August 28, 2017 Bookopoly 0

I hope every one is enjoying the challenge so far and managing to tick off the reading challenges. If you haven’t signed up yet, there is still tons of time as Bookopoly takes place ALL YEAR! You can check out what Bookopoly is all about and sign up here.

Time for the 3rd Chance Challenge of the year!

This is something that I have wanted to do myself for a very long time. I’m forever seeing posts from people who have found a little note in a book they have just bought or borrowed and it looks like such a cute thing to do!

Put a sticky note with a heart next to your favourite quote, or an ‘OMG’ next to the big twist moment, or why not just put a little note at the beginning of the book telling the person you hope they enjoy it. It literally could be anything! Just keep it positive, kid-friendly (no swearwords!) and bookish!!!

You have 5 days to complete this challenge! This challenge will end on Saturday 2nd September at 11am (GMT).

Share on any social media, just make sure you tag me!

Sunday Funday: Pottopoly

January 15, 2017 Sunday Funday 1

The weekend is almost over, which means back to work tomorrow for most of us. So to cheer you up (and myself) I am going to be giving you a little bit of bookish fun every Sunday, to make the end of the weekend that little bit easier!

My week has been a strange one. Me and my boyfriend broke up last weekend and I’ve been feeling pretty emotional since. This weekend I’ve had the house to myself and I was so worried that I was going to end up curled up in the corner of my bedroom crying all weekend but the time alone seems to have done me some good and although I’m still feel massively raw about the entire thing I’m definiltey feeling a bit more emotionally stable.

Part of this, I’d like to think, is because I’ve spent this weekend making my way through all the Harry Potter films in preparation for seeing the Cursed Child next week. Harry Potter always manages to cheer me up and has definitely been a good way to keep myself distracted!

So, onto this week’s Sunday Funday and I’m sticking with the Harry Potter theme. I don’t know about you but my facebook feed this week has been full of Pottopoly and I just had to share it!

The game has been created by Kristen Roedel and her attention to detail is mesmerising! It contains a bank of customized Galleons (in the denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 500) and Azkaban instead of Jail!

Forget the old shoe or boat that came with Monopoly, this version comes with 6 playing figurines: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Voldemort, Snape or Draco. You can also buy the additional characters of Dumbledore, Ginny and Luna.

There are 24 Charms cards (Chance) and 24 Potions (Community Chest) cards, and you can buy locations like Dumbledore’s office and the cupboard under the stairs!

The item is currently sold out, but Etsy seller Kristen Roedel will be opening up pre-orders again in March, which gives us just enough time to save up for this fabulous game!

In the meantime if you are looking for a bookish game to play you should check out my new challenge, Bookopoly!

What do you think of Pottopoly?

Enjoy your Sunday and have an excellent week!

Challenges I’m Hoping to Actually Get Close to Completing in 2017

January 5, 2017 Challenge 2

New Year, New Challenges!

2016 started really well for me, but what with the end of the year taking a massive dive personally I ended up having to take a break from the blog and my reading goals suffered massively. Hopefully this year will be more positive, but even so I have been a bit more careful with the amount of challenges I have chosen for myself this year and also the goals I have set.

Goodreads

I actually only missed out on my goal last year b a couple of books, so I’m keeping the same goal and hoping to read 50 books in total in 2017.

Keep up with my progress here.

Bookopoly

After months of planning and prep I finally announced my very own bookish challenge: Bookopoly! Make you way around the board completing both the reading challenges and the bookish activities (which includes a library selfie!)

Bookopoly 2017

January 3, 2017 Bookopoly 16

I don’t know about you but I love taking part in bookish challenges. They have helped me to broaden my reading and try out so many new things and I wanted to find a way to do this for other people who are maybe a bit stuck in a rut with their own reading. So here it is … Bookopoly!

Why Should You Take Part?

This challenge is specifically designed to get you trying out new things when it comes to your reading life. Whether it’s a new genre, author, topic or a bookish activity that you wouldn’t normally do… give it a go!

For people who aren’t big readers it’s a great way to motivate you to read more and maybe try out something different. For those of you who are a bit more experienced then it’s a great way to show off your bookish awesomeness as you make you way round the board!

The board can look a little intimidating at first, but don’t let it worry you… it’s not a competition. It’s about YOU and YOUR OWN reading experience. And you can still enter the giveaway and have the chance to win a great prize at the end of the challenge, even if you haven’t completed the entire board.

How Does It Work?

  • The challenge will take place during the entire year, from 1st January – 31st December 2017.
  • Sign ups will be open all year.
  • There will be numerous giveaways throughout the year that you can enter dependent on what you have completed so far, plus one final EPIC giveaway in December 2017!
  • You don’t have to complete the board in order. If you want to, sure go for it, but it’s not a requirement. If you want to make it more of a challenge then you could even roll a dice to determine which challenge you will complete next!
  • If you read more than one book for a specific challenge then you can earn ‘Shelves’ (kind of like houses in Monopoly). If you collect 3 Shelves for any one challenge then you earn yourself a Bookcase! This will give you more chance to win something in the giveaways throughout the year!

Check out the board below (Download links further down the page)

Instructions

  1. Sign up and introduce yourself in the comments of this post. If you have done a sign up post on your own blog then make sure to include the link in your comments so other people can check out your Bookopoly progress!
  2. Download your Bookopoly board! (Link below) There is also a  Suggestions Sheet if you are having trouble finding books for any of the tasks and a Progress Sheet for keeping track of what you have read for each task. You could also keep track of what you have read in a Goodreads Shelf.
  3. READ! READ! READ!
  4. There are 4 boxes on the board marked with large question marks. These are Chance Challenges and the tasks are a mystery! One Chance will be unveiled in February, May, August and November and you will have just 5 days to complete the task!
  5. There will be a wrap up post on here in December on which you can share your progress for the challenge and enter the giveaway!

Sunday Funday: Bookopoly

January 26, 2014 Sunday Funday 4

Sunday Funday

The weekend is almost over, which means back to work tomorrow for most of us. So to cheer you up (and myself) I am going to be giving you a little bit of bookish fun every Sunday, to make the end of the weekend that little bit easier!
.
My week has been kind of boring, nothing much exciting happening at all. It’s week’s like this that I tell myself that I have to get my butt into gear! I keep making “motivational” lists of things I need to do, but haven’t actually started ticking things off them yet!
.
So this week I found something fun for you: Bookopoly!
.
Bookopoly.
It’s described as “Monopoly for bookworms” and sounds like so much fun!
.
“Like Monopoly, this is a traditional property trading game where players buy, sell and trade their way to fun with family and friends. Roll the dice and advance to Read. Collect Bookstores and trade them in for Libraries. And on the back of each property deed you’ll find interesting facts about the books and the authors.”
.
This looks like the perfect game for fellow readers or book club members! I LOVE a good board game with friends, monopoly was our favourite game at university and I really would love to try this version out! I will definitely be ordering this as soon as possible!
.
Bookopoly is available from Amazon, check out the links below to order your own!
Amazon UK . Amazon US
.
Enjoy your Sunday!
