Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.
I love this weeks topic! I actually did a song-to-story TTT for freebie week last year and loved sharing the songs that I think would make amazing stories. Here are my more recent choices…
Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag I’m not gonna move
I would love a book based on this song. It sounds like it would make an epic romance with a guy so desperate to find the girl he loves he refuses to move and ends up on the news. I feel like CoHo would write an excellent book for this song!
He said, “Son when you grow up,
Would you be the savior of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?”
I LOVE the beginning of this song. It’s sounds like this father preparing his son to lead some great rebellion for the ‘broken, beaten and damned’ people. I feel like this would make a great fantasy/dystopian book.
She walked to the mailbox
On that bright summers day
Found a letter from her son
In a war far away
I love books about soldiers at war, and the story featured in this song is beautiful and in my opinion would make such an emotion and powerful read.
If you could see that I’m the one who understands you,
Been here all along.
So, why can’t you see, you belong with me.
This is one of those typical YA high school/college romance stories about the guy being with the wrong girl whilst the right girl is his best friend whose been there forever. Yes, we’ve all read this story many times before, but it’s still just as good!
In another life I would make you stay
So I don’t have to say you were the one that got away
This song is so tragic but beautiful. I know for a fact that I was not the only one sobbing after hearing this song for the first time! I would be such a emotional mess if this was made into a book, but it would be amazing!
I remember it now, it takes me back to when it all first started
But I’ve only got myself to blame for it, and I accept it now
I had to chose this one because I actually have a WIP which is inspired by this song. It’s all about realising mistakes from the past and letting them go so you can give yourself another chance. It’s such a beautiful song and makes for a beautiful story.
I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself cause my heart so much misery
Such powerful lyrics I think this one would make a really great story about a character trying to overcome their past and potentially not so great parents. It would be a hard one to read at time but the story would be such a powerful one.
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between Heaven and Hell
Another one that just makes me think about fantasy worlds and great battles and rebellions. About the ‘lesser’ characters rising up against their oppressors! Just me? Ok then.
I’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
Ok, so this is another song which is totally inspiring a chapter in a current WIP in which two characters end up separated but so desperate to be back together again. The heartbreak and the love in this song is just so beautiful.
When you were standing in the wake of devastation
When you were waiting on the edge of the unknown
Yes, ok, it’s another one about rebellions and great battles in fantasy/dystopian books. But there are just so many great songs that fit with this kind of story!
