(summary from Goodreads)

Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end.

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.

The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.

My Thoughts

I loved The Maze Runner, and I was very interested to see how the story and the world building was going to develop in this book now our characters are out of the maze and in the big bad world.

The excitement of having absolutely no idea what was going to happen was one of my favourite things about this book (and the series so far). I never knew who to trust, who was good or who was bad. I thought I figured out something only for that idea to be shoot down the in next chapter. The illusion of safety is repeatedly yanked from under us and I found myself frustrated in the best way possible. James Dashner, you’re such a tease … and I love it!

“If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.”

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers–boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out–and no one’s ever made it through alive.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.

You know when I like a book, because I turn into an absolute mumbling mess that really makes no sense!

.

Last year I read some amazing dystopian trilogies, The Divergent Trilogy and The Legend Trilogy being two of the best, and since then I have been looking for the next great one to read. I’m so glad that I finally decided to pick up this book because WOW was it AMAZING!

My heart was racing the entire time. I can’t remember the last time that happened to me with a book. The action was written so well in this book that I could see it all happening and there were times when I forgot where I was and totally thought I was going to get eating by something!
