(summary from Goodreads)

Lexie Boggs needs out of her house… away from her alcoholic mother and far away from the “white trash” label that’s been smacked across her chest. She’s saved every penny from her multiple jobs so she can dart out of there as soon as she graduates. But there’s something else she wants so badly she’s willing to spend every dime she has. Her senior class trip and the chance to seduce the senior hottie, Sean Dixon.

Ryan Parker knows how much college means to his best friend, Lexie. He also knows Sean is a player on a search for how many girls he can get in his bed. So instead of letting Lexie drain out her piggy bank, he forks out the dough to get her on the senior ski trip. Not only because she’s his best friend, but because he’s face-planted in love with her.

When Ryan and Lexie get jammed in the same cabin, with one king-sized bed and a whole lot of history, Ryan fights to keep his feelings hidden, while Lexie discovers some of hers.

My Thoughts

I’m never sure how I’m going to feel about the “friend to relationship” storyline. Some authors do it well, whilst some just…well they can’t do it! Becs Ann and Tessa Marie are one of those duos that CAN do it, and do it well!

I’m not too sure how I feel about Lexie. On one hand I really liked her tough yet vulnerable personality. She stays strong when having to deal with her mum and never lets anyone see how much it upsets her, except Ryan. I really love her when she is around Ryan, it brings out a really fun side to her. Plus she has a slight obsession with nail polish and after I finished reading this book I immediately painted my nails a rainbow colours!

But I’m slightly conflicted about her because there are parts of her that kind of annoy me. Her obsession with Sean when Ryan is OBVIOUSLY in love with her. How can she not see how much of a DOUCHE Sean is?! I also felt like at times she kinda took advantage of Ryan, but I don’t know, maybe that’s just me and I was angry that she hadn’t noticed Ryan after everything he does for her so I decided that I wanted to hate her, which I actually don’t.

Ryan is the boy that I wanted to be my best friend in high school. He is beautiful inside and out and the perfect friend. He really would do anything for Lexie, even pay for her to go in the ski trip which she only wants to go on so she can hook up with another guy! He is very protective, loving and loyal, not just to Lexie but to all his friends and family. He has not had the best childhood/teenage years until moving in with his grandparents and is determined to make something of himself.

“All these years he’s always just been Ryan my best friend, and now he’s Ryan my gorgeous best friend. His chest rises and falls, and I rest my head just above his heart. I take comfort in the sound because as long as his heart beats I’ll never be alone.”

Since becoming friends as children, they have become each other’s comforter over the years and are the ones that each other goes to when they need someone to understand them. Ryan has to put up with Lexie’s obsessiveness over “hottie” (I hate that word, therefore is the perfect word to describe him!) Sean, and just wants her to be happy, whatever it takes, that he pays for her to go on the ski trip. I mean, how nice is that?!!! But the nice guy that he is, he doesn’t tell her!

But Ryan gets his reward when he ends up roomed with Lexie AND in a double bed, after a slight spider incident. (Probably another reason why I wasn’t sure if I like her, I hate people who over react about spiders! They are TINY! How is something that tiny that terrifying?!) what follows is a funny and cute build up to a sweet relationship. Ryan and Lexie really do bring out the best in each other and I LOVE their interactions, and friends, when angry with each other but especially when they are getting together.

Final Thoughts

I found this book a really fun read. At times it did feel like it was being dragged out slightly, but then it was the perfect length and I wouldn’t have wanted it any shorter. I have read Becca Ann before as Cassie Mae and really enjoyed her book so knew that this was would be good, but the combination if Becca Ann and Tessa Marie (Theresa Paolo) is genius and together they create this fun yet sweet rom com that I could read countless times and never get bored!

Re-Readability: Yes, at some point

I would recommend this book to fans of: young adult, YA romance, relationships that grow from friendships, books set in high school, books about school trips

Rating I Liked it
