Mid-Year Challenge Check Up

June 16, 2016 Challenge 2

So, it’s mid way through the year and I decided to check out how I was doing on my challenges. Last year I really struggled with my challenges, and realised it was because I picked WAY too many with WAY too optimistic goals.

This year I have tried to be more realistic and haven’t signed up for as many. You can check out all the challenges I am taking part in and see details for each here.

Goal – Read 70 books in 2015

I am currently at 24, but since I have had 2 major reading slumps already this year I think that’s pretty darn good! I’ve got some time booked off over the next couple of months and there are some great releases on their way so I don;t doubt I will have any problem hitting this one.
You can keep up with this challenge here.

Real Book Challenge

Goal – Read at least 30 “real” books.

I am currently at 7/30 for this challenge. I think my main problem is that I have seen some pretty great looking books up for request this year and obviously they always come as eBooks. However I do have a pile of physical books on my shelf that I am planning on reading this summer including The 5th Wave and Lady Midnight.

Goal – To read at least 12 Debut Author Books in 2015

I have read 4/12 debut author books so far this year, which I don’t think is too bad. My main problem at the moment is that a lot of my favourite authors are releasing new books which I really want to read. But this means that I am not reading as many debuts. Will be on the look out for more during the second half of this year.

Goal – To Re-Read at least 15 books

Erm, so I have reread 1/15 books this year. Oops! Somehow I don’t think I’m going to complete this challenge I just don’t seem to have the time anymore.

Read at least 12 Non Fiction books

I’ve actually really enjoyed the Non-Fiction books I’ve read this year, and for someone who had never read non-fiction before (unless forced) I think that 5/12 for this point in the year is pretty good! I’ve got some more waiting on my bookshelf so don;t think I will have any problem reaching my goal this year.

To post at least 12 discussion posts (one for each month!)

Wohoo! 7/12, I seem to be excelling at this category! I do love a good bookish chat and I really enjoy writing these posts, and reading all the comments that I get from them.

So that’s my mid year check up for my 2016 challenges. How are you doing with yours?

Are you taking part in any of the same challenges as I am?

I dread to think how I’m doing at my halfway point for my challenges and resolutions. I need to do my mid point check up soon. I think, considering you’ve had major reading slumps. I’m impressed with your nonfiction reading so far, that’s way better than I ever manage.

I made sure to choose myself some nice easy non-fiction, based on subjects I am actually interested in, to get me started and ease me in! But even I am surprised at how much non-fiction I have actually read this year!
You never know, you are probably doing better than you think you are. And if not, then you are only half way through so plenty of time to get back on track!
