A list of all the times I’ve fangirled in front of authors and made an idiot of myself!

March 28, 2017 Top Ten Tuesday 7

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
Each week they release a Top Ten Theme and invite everyone to join in and make their own Top Ten List.

This weeks TTT topic is all about the authors we love to fan girl over. I’ve been super lucky to be able to meet some of my all time favourite authors over the years, but still have an enormous list to tick off. This is a list of some of my absolute favourites.

Malorie Blackman

I was lucky enough to meet Malorie at the first ever YALC in 2014! I sat in front of her table 2 hours early and was rewarded with only being 5th in the queue. Once I got up to the table I turned into an absolutely mumbling mess and then cried out of pure excitement that I had finally got to meet her!

Cassandra Clare

I met Cassandra Clare at YALC 2015 and was lucky enough to get there super early on the day pick up number 34 ticket. Some people who were late getting tickets ended up waiting for nearly 3 hours to meet her! We had a nice little chat about our favourite characters in her books, mine being Simon and she signed my copy of The City of Bones. Unfortunately though, a few minutes later after checking out my signed book I discovered that she had signed my book ‘For Simon’! Luckily Cassandra’s PA got her to sign my book again. According to Cassandra I now own a ‘one of a kind book’!

Gayle Forman

I met Gayle at an event in 2015 and she was so much fun. She actually interviewed herself, in the form of one of her characters, and then invite fans from the audience to do a dramatic reading of her new book. When I met her and got my book signed we had a pretty awesome chat about our Hogwarts houses too!

Marie Rutkoski

I LOVED The Winners Trilogy and made no attempt to hide that when I met Marie Rutkoski at YALC in 2015. I had a major fan girl moment and ended up telling her exactly how I wanted the third book to end. I’m happy to say that it actually ended how I wanted and to this day I’m convinced it’s because of our conversation (hahaha)

Alwyn Hamilton

Alwyn Hamilton was an author that I didn’t know I wanted to meet until 2 days before YALC 2016 when I finally read Rebel of the Sands and fell in love! I spent so  long at her table telling her just about everything I loved about her book and she was super cool. Really hoping she’s going to be at YALC 2017 too!

I was so so excited to meet V.E.Schwab and after sitting through two of her panels at YALC 2016 and waiting in a queue for an hour I FINALLY got my chance! She was very impressed by my US cover of A Gathering of Shadows (so much cooler than the UK cover) and was such a nice person. Super excited for her next release!

J.K.Rowling – This lady probably makes a lot of people’s wish lists, but I am determined that at some point in my life I will meet J.K…and probably faint with excitement…after crying with happiness!

Tillie Cole – It is totally ridiculous that I haven’t met Tillie Cole yet but I have the worst luck in that every time she comes to the UK I’m never available. One day I will meet her!

Colleen Hoover – I would really love to travel to The Bookworm box in the US and meet Colleen! You never know, it might actually happen.

Cecelia Ahern – Tonight I will be going to a Ahern event and I am SUPER excited to get the chance to meet her and hear all about her new YA series. So much love for Ahern!

Laini Taylor – There is so much excitement in the bookish world for Taylor’s new book Strange the Dreamer and I am super excited to get to meet her next Tuesday at an event for her new book!

Which authors have you already met? Who is on your wish list?

Who’s on your list this week?

Looks like you already got to meet a lot of great authors, that’s so amazing 🙂 J.K. Rowling is (unsurprsingly) on my wishlist as well, so here’s hoping we’ll both still get to meet her someday!

Sounds like you had some amazing meet experiences!! I love author signings, they are so worth it!

Oh wow, you’ve met so many authors!! I think I’d be too tongue-tied if I met one of my favourite authors, I’d probably just stand there clutching my books and smiling like a crazy person…! 😉
