Dreaming of Reading Rooms

I think we’ve all had that dream that one day when we are all grown up we will live in a castle with a beast, talking candlesticks and a beautiful library all of our own. Ok, so maybe not the beast or the candlesticks but definitely yes to the library!

But as we get a little bit more realistic maybe it won’t be so much a gigantic library as a reading nook. And that’s still pretty cool because it’s a space all of our own to fill with bookish love and settle down to an adventure in a fantasy world or a romance that will sweep us off our feet!

So what do we need to make the perfect reading space? A comfy chair of course, some decent lighting and a pretty bookcase. Sounds about right. So I went in search of some things that would definitely be in my reading space.

This enormous chair which I would fill with bookish cushions (see below) and snuggle up in.
It would be perfect whilst reading an addictive book like One of Us Is Lying since you won’t be moving until you’ve finished the book!

This candleabra floor lamp which just oozes Beauty and the Beat feels and would be the perfect way to make sure I can see the pages of my book well into the night (and early hours!)
It would also create the perfect atmosphere if you were planning on reading something super creepy like Anna Dressed in Blood.

These totally cute bookish cushions to pile of my chair and make it super comfy.

These would be perfect whilst binge-reading a series like V.E.Schwab’s Shades of Magic trilogy or Monsters of Verity duology

This gorgeous pendant light which would allow me to read into the dark hours whilst also adding some culture to my room.
This would be perfect whilst reading Alwyn Hamilton’s Rebel of the Sands and would totally match with the desert setting in the book.

This amazingly snug rug which I would actually sit on the floor and read just to be able to snuggle on it’s softness!
It would also be the perfect place to lie whilst suffering from a bookish hangover after finishing something like It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover.

And lastly of course I’d want an enormous bookcase with a ladder, just like this one, so I can swing along it just like Belle!

How about you? What would go in your reading room? What else should I put in mine?
