Coffee & a Catch Up

February 8, 2018 Coffee and a Catch Up, Discussion 1

So Jamie @ Perpetual Page Turner has a feature called ‘If We Were Having Coffee‘ which I love reading and thought I’d do something similar, hence Coffee and a Catch Up!

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d be drinking a Skinny Sugar Free Vanilla Latte! As a diabetic it’s so hard to manage blood sugars whilst finding yummy coffees, but thankfully I found the sugar free version of the Monin vanilla syrup they use in coffee shops. It’s much more blood sugar friendly and tastes just as good! I couldn’t get through the work day without one in the morning!

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d tell you all about Jake. If you’ve been following me for a while you will now all about my little furry buddy and will have probably seen one of the million photos I post about him. This week we had to say goodbye to Jake and it was the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever been through. He would have been 14 next month and has been such a big part of my life for so long that it still doesn’t feel real that he’s not here anymore. It’s going to be a long time before it feels normal coming downstairs in the morning and him not being there with his waggy tail to great me, but for now I’m just concentrating on all of the many happy memories I have of him to get me through.

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up…. I’d tell you about the 8 MM romance books I’ve read this month. It’s a totally new genre to me and I only actually picked up Try because an LGBTQIA book is part of my Bookopoly challenge and someone has posted about it on Instagram. But then I loved it so much that I read the other 5 books in the series and then found another few too! I’ll definitely be checking out more from this genre in future.

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d tell you that I had a brief Twitter hiatus this month because people are mean. There is a lot of serious stuff happening in the world at the moment and don’t get me wrong everyone deserves to have their own opinion and should be allowed to share it. But I hate that some people think that Twitter is this platform to say whatever they want about whoever they want without any thought that it is a REAL person that they are talking about.

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d tell you that I went to see The Maze Runner: The Death Cure at the cinema last week and it was just as AMAZING and EMOTIONAL as I had hoped (you know which scene I’m talking about!) It makes me sad that another of my favourite YA film adaptations is over, but I just bought The Fever Code so can live in their world a little bit longer!

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d tell you that for the past few months I’ve been trying Online Dating. In the beginning I quite liked it, went on a few ok dates but nothing amazing. But in the past few weeks I’ve just grown to hate it and I think it’s down to the fact that I feel under pressure to find myself a boyfriend when I’m actually quite happy being single right now. (On that note I saw this article about books that teach us to love being alone.) So I’m thinking of quitting the Online Dating and going back to good old spontaneity!

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d show you this tweet by Kiersten White which had me laughing for a good 30 minutes the other week. I love following authors on twitter!

.

If We Were Having Coffee and a Catch Up… I’d recommend that the next book you pic up be Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton (review coming tomorrow!). An AMAZING conclusion to an INCREDIBLE trilogy. The characters, the worldbuilding, the cover(!)…EVERYTHING was just perfect with this book!

I love this post and love that Jamie put it all together. I must try and do it at some point. Sorry to hear about your furry friend. It is heartbreaking. I feel sad still when I think of my furry friend and he died about 10 years ago! It gets easier, I promise! 🙂
