Sunday Funday: Book Printing #1

The weekend is almost over, which means back to work tomorrow for most of us. So to cheer you up (and myself) I am going to be giving you a little bit of bookish fun every Sunday, to make the end of the weekend that little bit easier!

My weekend has been amazing, my sister came home for a visit so yesterday was a mega girly day with my mum and both of my sisters. Lots of shopping, lunching, wine and movie watching, and my dad even joined it (although only on the eating and movie watching!) Today has been a lot more chilled which allowed me to try out some of the bookish crafts I have seen and never quite got round to doing them. So it is one of these that inspired this weeks Sunday Funday!

I found it on Pintrest a while ago, Book Printing. Some of them look amazing. All you need is a book you can take apart. (I got some really old ones which I don’t think anyone is ever going to read from a local charity shop) Find an image and print onto your book paper, simple as that. Some examples of some really cool ones below.

Sadly I only got 1 attempt before my printer ran out of ink, but I think it came out pretty well. (See below). I definitely see myself making more of these, once I get some more printer ink!

Have you ever done any book printing? What do you think of these?

Enjoy your Sunday and have an excellent week!

The weekend is almost over, which means back to work tomorrow for most of us. So to cheer you up (and myself) I am going to be giving you a little bit of bookish fun every Sunday, to make the end of the weekend that little bit easier!

Hello all you lucky people who are not in work today, unfortunately I am.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned my job yet on Broc’s Bookcase. Basically I work at a university and tomorrow all the new  students are arriving and moving in. So I have to be there at 7.30am and stay until 6.30pm.
The only upsides: free food and double pay!

..But don’t worry, I didn’t forget about all of you who are off today, dreading having to go back to work tomorrow (you lucky things!) So I was unsure of what bookish fun I could supply to you today, but then last night I ws as watching the UK X Factor and a girl came on and sang this really cute song about being heart broken by her ex and singing about how he was her missing puzzle piece. I LOVE puzzles and so immediately opened up the puzzle app on my iPad! After about 2 hours of doing puzzles I decided to make a few for you all as a Funday Sunday activity. I mean, who doesn’t love puzzles?!

So below you will find 3 puzzles based on some of my favourite book covers at the moment. Once you have clicked on the image you can chose how difficult you want your puzzle to be. Whether you want it easy peasy or you prefer to challenge yourself there is something for you.

So enjoy the end of your weekend, and have fun with my bookish puzzles, whilst I am stuck in work!

Have you read any of these books?

Enjoy your Sunday and have an excellent week!

The weekend is almost over, which means back to work tomorrow for most of us. So to cheer you up (and myself) I am going to be giving you a little bit of bookish fun every Sunday, to make the end of the weekend that little bit easier!

Work is starting to get lot busier so this weekend has been an extremely lazy one for me, chilling out in between the manic week days. Lying around with hot chocolate reading books and watching movies. I also did some baking, didn’t really turn out the way it was meant to, but that’s the whole fun of it!

With the announcement of J.K.Rowling’s new Harry Potter: Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find them film, this weeks Sunday Funday is a Harry Potter themed.

I have created a word search, so don’t worry if you have never read Harry Potter (you strange muggles!) as the words are all listed for you. Just follow the link below…

My weekend has been amazing, and I’m really not ready for work again tomorrow. But as I am still in Northern Ireland with my friends I have a carvery and playing on the beach to make my end of the weekend transition a little bit easier!

But for the rest of you who are stuck with your ordinary Sundays I have a bookish craft for you. This is a really cute one which I will definitely be trying out once I get back.

You are going to need a dictionary to cut up. I know for a fact I have about 10 around my house that I never use, but if you are lacking then maybe just use another book which you haven’t read in forever and are pretty sure you are not going to read again!

So here is the link for the tutorial, they are pretty easy to make and look really cool once complete … Dictionary Heart Garland

What do you think of these? Do you have tons of dictionaries in your house too?

Enjoy your Sunday and have a great week!

Sunday Funday: A-Z Bookish Survey 2013

September 1, 2013 Sunday Funday, Survey 0

Sunday Funday Logo

The weekend is almost over, which means back to work tomorrow for most of us. So to cheer you up (and myself) I am going to be giving you a little bit of bookish fun every Sunday, to make the end of the weekend that little bit easier!

This weeks Sunday Funday comes from Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner.
So this is my A-Z bookish survey, why not have a go at your own? Or if not you can just learn more about me by reading through mine!

Author you’ve read the most books from:
At this present time it’s probably going to be Meg Cabot. She has so many amazing series, both Young Adult and Adult, that I have been reading for years!

Best Sequel Ever:
This is a hard one as I am absolutely series nerd! But one of my ultimate top series is The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. For anyone who loves a good fantasy series, this one is a must. It’s at this point I also warn people to not judge this series by the movie Eragon (named after the first book), as the books are sooooo much better!

Currently Reading:
Divergent by Veronica Roth. Would you believe that I have had this book for nearly a year, but have only just got round to reading it! Excited to review this one!

Drink of Choice whilst reading:
I’m quite a fussy drinker, so only really drink one thing: Summer Fruits Juice. My favourite thing by far, I must go through a bottle every few days!

E-reader or Physical book?
I love the convenience of my kindle app on my iPad & iPhone, I take it EVERYWHERE with me! I will read whilst walking the dog, whilst walking round Tesco, people often look at me like I’m a little strange, but some books are just too good to put down!!! But, in saying that, nothing can beat a physical book, even if you do end up with hundreds of piles of them all over the house!!!

Fictional Character you probably would have dated in high school:
I don’t know about character I probably would have dated, but the character I would most like to have dated in high school would probably have been Yves from Joss Stirling’s Benedict series.  I really love all of the Benedict brothers, but Yves has this whole dorky-cute thing going on and I totally would have loved having him around during my high school years!

Glad you gave this book a chance:
Abducted – T.R.Ragan
Not my normal choice of book, but it was only 99p on amazon, so I thought I would give it a try and absolutely loved it!

Hidden Gem Book:
The Disappearing Girl – Heather Topham Wood
And incredible book which definately deserves more recognition, such a powerful story

Important Moment in your Reading life:
Probably when I discovered Goodreads. Before Goodreads I was very much stuck in a reading rut, always reading the same kind of story or the exactly same book over and over again! Goodreads had allowed me to find different books that I love, and introduced me to a community just as nerdy as me!

Just finished:
Unbreakable – Rebecca Shea
Review will be up next week, another must read!

Kind of Books you Wont Read:
Erotica. That is my big No-No! Anything else, I am up for trying, so please send me any suggestions!

Longest Book you’ve Read:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. (870 pages)

Major Book Hangover because of:
Inheritance – Christopher Paolini
This book, the ending of the entire series, was amazing but also heartbreaking and it took me about a week to become emotionally stable again!

Number of Bookcases you own:
The really sad thing, is that I don’t actually own a bookcase! Which is kind of ironic really as my blog is named Broc’s Bookcase! (wishful thinking I guess) My books are currently stacked in piles around my room, it can get quite dangerous in my room, as you never know if you are going to have a pile of hardbacks collapse on top of you!

One Book you have read Multiple times:
Nought’s and Crosses – Malorie Blackman
This book always ends with me crying, but its still one of those books that I always go back to. I just can’t help myself!

Prefered Place to read:
Would you think I am strange if I said that I LOVED to read whilst walking the dog down the canal?

Quote that inspires you/gives you the feels from a book you have read:
“It was perfect moments like that that made all the bad ones worth living through.”  – What I Didn’t Say
This one always helps me through the bad days!

Reading Regret:
Watching the film before I have read the book.
I always try to read the book before I watch the movie, as I like to imagine things myself first, instead of the movie telling me how things should look, and then when I read the book that’s all I see.

Series you Started and Need to FInish:
The Mortal Instruments – Cassandra Clare
I feel like I have been wating for the 6th book FOREVER! Plus all this hype at the moment, because of the film, is just reminding me how amazing the series is and how much I need to finish it!!!!

Three of your all time Favourite Books:
Noughts & Crosses – Malorie Blackman, Safe Haven – Nicholas Sparks, The Fault in Our Stars – John Green.

Unapologetic Fangirl for:
Twilight Series – Stephanie Meyer.
You can’t help but love it! (Another Guilty Pleasure!)

Very Excited for this Release more then Others
City of Heavenly Fire – Cassandra Clare
I need this book NOW!!!

Worst Bookish Habit
Once I have started reading a good book I HAVE to finish it. This often leads to me staying up until 3/4am and being absolutely knackered in work the next day!

X Marks the Spot: (Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book):
Scorpia Rising – Anthony Horowitz

Your Latest Book Purchase:
This is What Happy Looks Like – Jennifer Smith

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up really late)
What I Didn’t Say – Keary Taylor
It was one of those, “I’ll stop after the next chapter”. I kept saying this until 2am when I finished the last chapter.

Pick any letter (or a few) from above and let me know about your A-Z bookish-ness!

Enjoy your Sunday and have an excellent week!
