Even salvation can be delivered through the love of the damned…
Beauty can be a curse.
Faith can be a cage.
Only love can set you free.
A few long weeks after being reluctantly ripped from the comforting embrace of her sacred prophet’s religious commune—the only life she has ever known—a terrified Delilah is thrust into a world enveloped by evil and swimming in sin.
Steadfastly devout in her faith, and retaining the deep belief that her soul is innately tarnished as a branded ‘Cursed woman of Eve,’ Delilah is determined to find her way home to her people in The Order and away from the corrupt and damned outlaw motorcycle club—The Hades Hangmen—who hold her at their secluded compound for her protection—a ‘protection’ she strongly resents.
Delilah yearns to return home, convinced that only amongst her own people, and under the holy guidance of the Lord’s revealed prophet, can her Satan-spawned soul be truly saved. Conditioned her entire life to believe she is a witch… a life-long temptress… the devil’s whore… Delilah increasingly resents her beautiful face, her shapely body and her sensuous effect on men. But when a man of the motorcycle club—a deeply sinful yet stunningly beautiful man—is charged with her care, Delilah begins to see that this dangerous and moralless sinner from the ‘outside’ may offer her something she did not know could truly exist: unconditional love.
Kyler ‘Ky’ Willis loves his life: a daily abundance of brotherhood, liquor, the freedom of the open-road and—best of all—his pick of hot women. Raised a biker brat and now VP of the most notorious MC in the States, Ky has no shortage of club sluts warming his bed; a situation he takes full advantage of… until a certain blonde enters his life… a gorgeous pilgrim-blonde he can’t get out of his head… a pilgrim-blonde he and his club recently-rescued from some backward religious cult… and a pilgrim-blonde he’s been ordered to keep the hell away from and his whorish hands off.
When yet another in a lengthy line of drunken blunders forces Ky to reluctantly take charge of the pilgrim-blonde’s care, he realizes that there could be more to this woman than just supermodel looks and a stacked set of tits. He begins to see that she could be the woman who could do the impossible—tame his wild ways and capture his reluctant heart.
But the unyielding bonds of Lilah’s past are strong, her ‘people’ determined and, with a new Prophet in charge and hell bent on revenge, they are mightily reluctant to let her go…
Heart Recaptured is the long awaited sequel to It Ain’t Me Babe, the incredible book which brought an abused religious cult escapee into the world of an MC Outlaw Club. This book continues the story perfectly, this time concentrating on Lilah and Ky with a very different story to book one, but just as emotional, heart breaking, sexy and intense (if not more!)
So, why did I love this book?
Lilah & Ky were one of these couples that we knew they were going to end up together, but they didn’t, so we got a lot of chemistry filled moments that constantly kept us on the edge of our seats just waiting for that moment when they would finally realise they were totally perfect for each other. They bring out the best in each other, Ky giving Lilah his ‘grasp life by the balls’ philosophy, whilst Lilah brings a calmness to Ky’s life and helps him to realise that maybe there are more important things in life then booze and pussy.
“Gotta take life by the balls at some point and squeeze those fuckers with the skill of a whore.”
When you think about it this book starts in a very similar situation to the first. One biker boy, check. One young woman abused by a religious cult, check. Throw them together in the outside world, check. It’s kinda the same, until you open the book and start reading! Ky and Lilah have their own story, their own issues, their own lives. Lilah is nothing like Mae, who willingly escaped the cult. And Ky, well Ky is a whore, but a kind hearted one with his own past and his own set of problems separate from the club.
“I love you, Li. You’re mine. My woman. My property. My fuckin’ old lady…my fuckin’ forever.”
I’m not going to lie, in the first book I was slightly freaked out by Flame at times. I mean he is awesome, but a guy who gets turned on by self harm, it just got a little bit strange for me at points. He still self harms in this book, but he just seems a completely different guy. His dedication to Maddie has totally made me love him, scars and all and I can’t wait to get more of him in the next book. I think out of all them his mind is going to be the most fascinating to get a glimpse into.
“I’m gonna love you with all these scars, with this sexy-as-fuck- short hair. However the fuck you look, wearing a damn Glad bag if you want. I’m in this with you ’til the very end.”
We get all three “sisters” together in this book and it’s really interesting to see their interactions and the effects the outside world has on them all separately. They have all dealt with their abuse in different ways, and the really sad thing in this book is seeing Lilah’s belief that everything she has been put through has been the right thing. It really emphasises the level of brainwashing that happens in these places, and we are reminded at the beginning of this book that many of the situations from this book came from survivors that Tillie talked to. Knowing that just makes it even more heart breaking to read.
“I am just so impossibly happy. Before you I was vacant of love. Now I am replete. Before you I lived without hope. Now I am inspired. Before you I was broken. Now I am whole.”
“Lilah,” I rasped, fighting a fucking lump in my throat at her words. I tapped over my heart with my fist and said, “You’re in here, Li. You’re fuckin’ always in here.”
We still got TONS of Mae and Styx, and it was really interesting seeing them from Ky and Lilah’s POV. Ky believing that Styx is whipped, and Lilah thinking that Mae has been taken over by the devil. It’s a totally different and at times entertaining view on their relationship then we got in It Ain’t Me Babe.
“I wish… to kiss you now.”
I could talk about this book all day, as you can tell from my initial reaction video which is double the length it is meant to be! Trying to fit all my thoughts into a appropriately sized review was VERY hard, and even now my fingers are twitching to try and get back up to my review to add more! Just such an incredible book. Tillie gives us the romance, the sexy men, but also a very intense and realistic storyline that you can’t help but get immersed in from page one!
Re-Readability: Stupid question. I could read this book 100 times in a row and never get bored of it!
I would recommend this book to: Tillie Cole fans, fans of dark romance, fans of biker boys, fans of Son’s of Anarchy, fans of fiction about religious cults!
Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
