I’m not “damaged.” No horrible childhood or demons in my past I’m trying to outrun. In fact, my family is ideal — funny, supportive and filled with couples that all follow “our” golden rule:
Find her. Protect her. Love only her, with everything you are, every day, for the rest of your life.
So why is it the mere thought of a monogamous relationship, more than one night with the same woman, sends me bolting in the other direction?
Because I hadn’t met Bellamy Morgan yet.
When I do cross paths with her, everything starts to slowly make sense. Why men change overnight — suddenly blind to all women but her, happy to hold her purse and watch corny movies.
Just one problem — she’s my little sister’s best friend.
I LOVED this book. Like head over heels loved this book. I don’t think it hurts that I was a massive fan of the Evolve series which featured one of my all time favourite group of characters and this book follows JT, who just so happens to be the son of one of my favourite couples from the Evolve series. It’s not necessary for you to read the Evolve series before this book, but in my opinion you absolutely should.
Going into this book you should know it’s very alpha male, so if you are not a fan then maybe stay clear. But if you are then prepare yourself because you will LOVE JT. Reformed manwhore he is the double of his father which made me love him from page one. Known as the player in his family we quickly learn from his POV that there is more to him and I really felt for him when his sister and friends doubted his ability to actually have feelings for a girl rather than just want to sleep with her.
“Fuck me, relationships are high maintenance as hell. I’m losing track of all the issues we have just from tonight!”
I loved Bellamy. She was independent and feisty and held her own against JT who was determined to take care of her. But there was also this beautiful innocence and vulnerability to her which paired perfectly with JT’s alpha tendencies. One of my FAVOURITE scenes has to be when Bellamy, in trying to punish JT, makes him sit across the room from her (whilst she is only in underwear) and apologise for everything he has done wrong. Such a funny scene and definitely the best way to deal with an alpha male!
“We already talked about lying, so we won’t rehash that. We will, however, move on to other behaviors that need rectified. I believe in positive reinforcement and since you speak Mars and I speak Venus, we’re gonna learn to meet in the middle and speak Earth. Thus, my risqué ensemble.”
You’ll be glad to know this book contains no insta-love or love triangles, just pure alpha, possessive and sexy as hell romance, with some massively sweet moments thrown in there. There aren’t actually that many sex scenes in the book, but the chemistry between JT and Bellamy is still off the charts.
Like in the Evolve series S.E.Hall knows how to write a great group of secondary characters and I loved seeing all of our original characters as adults as well as the new additions of their children as young adults. It’s so funny seeing how similar the second generation are to their parents and I just love the whole family dynamic of this group. Dane and Laney (JT’s parents) especially were brilliant in this book and I can’t not mention Sawyer (JT’s uncle) whose very loud personality never fails to make me laugh.
“How you manage mad, adorable and sexy as fuck all at the same time I’ll never know. But I hope like hell you never stop.”
Reading this book made me want to go back and read the entire Evolve series and as I mentioned above if you haven’t already read it then you really should because it’s amazing. If you’d rather not then you should still read this book because its sexy, steamy and super sweet and one of my favourite alpha romances of all time!
Re-Readability: Hells yes! I love this group of characters
I would recommend this book to fans of: big friendship groups, steamy romances, forbidden romance, alpha romances
