Is it time for a second chance at love?
When Lily left her home town – and the love of her life Wade – 8 years ago to start her acting career she had big plans to make her dream a reality. However, a few dead end jobs and one dead end relationship later she is back to make a fresh start with the only good thing to come out it all – her unborn baby.
Lily soon realises however that the heart wants what the heart wants, and hers clearly still wanted Wade Copeland! Can they overcome the hurt and pain of the past to allow themselves a future?
It took my a while to get into this book, like a whole 65%. But once I did it became the story that I had hoped all along that it would be.
I really struggled to like Lily at first. She just said and did really stupid things. I felt like I started to like her after she had gotten her life together, but whilst everything was a bit of a mess I didn’t really have any sympathy for her, nor did I massively like her.
Wade was a good love interest, but I never felt like I totally connected with him. He just seemed to keep changing his mind about things. “I like you” “I don’t like you” “I like you again” “You’re pregnant so I must now turn into super protective man who doesn’t want to be your friend” “I’m totally ignoring your baby bump and now I love you.” Ahhh!!!!
I was really hopeful for a second chance romance (they are my favourite kind) but there didn’t really seem to be all that much of the past to make it feel much like a second chance romance. The relationship didn’t seem to develop, one minute they were friends and the next they were playing house. It just all felt a little disjointed.
I had big hopes for this book and sadly it didn’t quite achieve them all, but it was still a nice storyline. Everything just felt a little rushed, especially the ending. It seemed to just end and I feel like some more pages would have really made the difference with this book.
The storyline was a really nice idea and I bet if you read it as part of the trilogy it is great to see the same characters back again. It’s an easy read and not too deep, so perfect if you are looking for something not too heavy to read.
Re-Readability: Probably Not
I would recommend this book to fans of: NA Romance, second chance romance, pregnant characters, books set int he countryside, books set in small town
Kristina O’Grady has always loved telling a good story. She took up writing at a young age and spent many hours – when she should have been doing her math homework – scribbling romance stories in a book she hid in her sock drawer. She grew up on a cattle ranch in Western Canada and loves reminiscing by writing about cowboys and their horses.
In 2000 Kristina met her own knight in shining armour/ cowboy who swept her off her feet and across the world to New Zealand, where she now lives on a sheep and beef farm with her amazingly supportive husband, three gorgeous young kids, seven working dogs and one very needy cat.
All for You is her fifth book.
